Searching for a feminist interpretation of the Qu'ran

My good friend /blogger African Sister and I are looking for a feminist interpretation of the Qu'ran. We believe in Ijtehad, but we also believe that women should be involved in the reinterpretation of the Qu'ran.

Please suggest articles/books or anything of use.

If not, we are going to consider writing one!

  1. Dr Laleh Bakhtiar translated the Quran. Al Jazeera wrote an article about her a while back, I do not have the link, but I am sure if you look up her name you will find more information on the subject matter.

  6. The misinterpretation of the Quran has encouraged some Muslim men to do major harm to Muslim women. Cultural ignorance is also involved in this. Allah sought to open us up to success and some people are hell-bent on shrinking us into jahliyah.

A socio-politically conscious TAFSEER of the Quran directly from the Arabic to English is being published by Imam Al Asi. He is very aware of the evils of Muslims in chauvinism, political despotism, and fanatical nitpicking of the Deen.

If im attracted to your blog because of its content than I believe you will remember this. Peace and Blessings
