First Sudanese LGBT Oganization

About Freedom Sudan:-

Freedom Sudan is the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) organization in Sudan. Our organization has been formed in December 2006. Our status is illegal. Homosexual behavior is illegal in Sudan and homosexuals facing the death penalty. That's why our organization was formed in secret and all our activities are carried out secretly, hoping that one day we will get accepted in our communities and even in our families, and hope that we can be FREE to be the way we are. Freedom Sudan is an organization run by volunteers only.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I really believe it's about time that the taboo issue of homosexuality in Sudan should be addressed in a fair manner. Let me start off by stating that I am not averse to homosexuals, though I am not one of them. Moreover, I strongly support their activism and cause because I believe everybody is entitled to lead his/her sexual life the way they wish.
Now it’s definitely a good step forward to take the struggle for sexual freedom in Sudan to the stage of online activism. However, I am skeptical that it will produce the desired results in a country where basic rights and freedom of all people regardless of their sexual orientation are grossly violated by the state. Rights and freedoms are never given, they are always taken. So our homosexual friends need to step up the struggle not only on online platforms but also on the ground, no matter the sacrifices.
